Getting started

How to prepare for your first MSO conversation

Bring the right questions and leave with a clearer picture of your support needs.

Describe your current situation

A useful first conversation starts with context. Outline whether you are launching, running an established practice, adding providers, or expanding to another location. A high-level overview is enough.

  • Summarize your team and services.
  • List your current administrative tools.
  • Note any upcoming changes or important dates.

Choose your immediate priorities

Identify a few tasks or processes you want to improve. Specific examples are more useful than broad labels: “We are unclear on who follows up with payers” gives more direction than “We need better operations.”

  • Choose up to three initial priorities.
  • Describe where your team gets stuck.
  • Explain what a more useful process would look like.

Ask about scope and responsibilities

Use the conversation to understand which activities are included, how work is coordinated, and what your own team would continue to handle. Ask how changes in scope are discussed.

  • Who will own each workstream?
  • What information is needed to begin?
  • How will progress and open questions be shared?

Agree on a concrete next step

Before closing, summarize the priorities you discussed and the next decision to make. Keep confidential patient information out of initial website inquiries; detailed information should only be exchanged through an appropriate agreed process.

  • Confirm the services worth exploring.
  • List the remaining questions.
  • Identify the person coordinating the next conversation.
